Something that we used during COVID lockdowns for geological mapping was based on what is called ‘lowland mapping’ from the British Geological Survey.

It is something that British logical survey mappers do. It is computer based and uses borehole data and thin section images which allow the students to use all the skills required for mapping but without needing to be in the field. Post-COVID we have used it for students who are unable to go out into the field or as a supplement before going out into the field.
